In 1387, the peace of the Highlands is shattered when the young English King, Richard of Bordeaux announces that he will be touring the Northern Territories in what is known as the Great Gyration. All young maidens of marriageable age must be presented to him. Richard is seeking a bride to forge an alliance between England and Scotland. Sir Andrew and Lady Bronwyn Brandham have been requested to entertain the English king and his retinue during the last harvest. Sir Drew's daughter, Jenna, refuses all suitors; especially the likes of the English king. In a willful show of disobedience, Jenna Brandham flees to the Highlands and seeks refuge among her uncles and grandfather of the Clan MacCollum. Her absence puts her family in grave danger of disobeying the king's request. They are desperate to keep the peace and to not anger the Royal guest.
Morag, the healer and chatelaine of the Clan MacCollum knows of a ruse to appease the unpredictable king, but it would mean traveling ahead in time to bring Kiera Campbell back in Jenna's place as a decoy. Kiera agrees to go back in time to help her old friend and to seek forgiveness from the past for her beloved husband, Derek.
Tom Callum has just landed a spot with a prestigious road show called Celtic Storm as the lead singer and front man. When he reaches Scotland to visit his cousin Kiera, he is drawn to seek his heritage and uncover the mysteries of his past. He is fascinated with a painting of a girl who lived more than six hundred years ago. Something about her tugs at his long forgotten memory. Little does he know that he will soon be plunged into a world of intrigue, deception and peril. The past and present collide in an adventure that brings danger at every turn. Only love will give Tom the strength he needs to thwart an attempt on King Richard's life. Tom must save the reputation of the Clan MacCollum and the Brandhams. How can he succeed without destroying what has already been written in history? Will Tom be able to survive his leap into the past? Will he be able to survive his return to the present, only to leave his heart behind?

Jenna Brandham, iron-willed daughter of Sir Andrew Brandham and his beloved Bronwyn, is furious when she learns that she is to be presented to the young English King, Richard of Bordeaux, when he visits their home on his first stop of his "Great Gyration," his journey throughout the Scottish Highlands. She'd vowed she'd never marry, and had no intention of tempting fate by being at home to welcome such a guest. Besides, his presence would prevent the coming Samhain celebration since it was well known that the English viewed their celebrations as pagan. With little thought to the position her actions would place her parents in, she made her way to the home of her aunt and uncle. In present-day America, Thomas Callum was busily preparing for his role in 'Celtic Storm,' a Celtic musical group that he'd tried out for and won. He knew his absence would be difficult for his adoptive parents but it was a chance of a lifetime and he intended to take it! Always a history buff, he was proud to wear the kilt and sing the old songs. He even used the Gaelic form of his name, Tavish, during the tour. When the group decided to take a much-deserved break, Thomas chose to visit his cousin Kiera in Scotland so that he could learn even more about the country that had always fascinated him. It was in his cousin's home where he saw the painting of the beautiful Jenna Brandham.
'Celtic Peril' is not just a story of a guy who falls in love with the subject of a painting. That would be easily predictable, but Ria Cantrell doesn't tell her stories that way. Oh no! If you've read the previous five books in the series (and I recommend that you do - even though they all can be read as stand alone stories) then you know these characters are all people who have been very important to the Old Seer, Morag. I loved this story because it has so many layers. It has love stories, time travel (which I often roll my eyes at, but not this time!), villains, suspense, and more tears and heartbreak than I've seen in a while. I admit it! I teared up - more than twice!! The character of Thomas/Tavish really broke my heart a couple of times and truly made the story. It seems that all of the characters in this story have some life lessons to learn, and readers don't escape those lessons either. I loved the book and the entire series! I try to not always give 5-star ratings but in this case it is deserved because I was truly engaged with the characters and found myself quite caught up in the story!
If I had to name one negative about the book, it could have had a bit more tweaking in the final edit. There were a few typos and a couple of places where there was a wrong word or a word was left out. On the whole, it didn't lessen my enjoyment of the story one bit.

Celtic Peril Celtic Storm Book 6 eBook Ria Cantrell Reviews
Wish there were more to the series but I guess ending on a good note is a positive too. Enjoy the series!
I really enjoyed going to the future and back I time with these characters.
This was a very interesting book.
This is another wonderful book in the Celtic storm series by Ms. Ria Cantrell. As you well know I have read all the books in this series rating the books fairly high and loving all of them so this book was no different. I just had to read this book too since I knew it was going to be good. Of course I am not just saying that since I have been exposed to Ms. Cantrell’s intricately intriguing fantastical blend of magic, time travel, plot twists, story and charming characters; Ms. Cantrell is a marvelous author. Plus another amazing thing is that all of Ms. Cantrell’s stories including this one can stand alone with no problems but you might want to read the others just to learn about the other minor characters too.
In present day Tom Callum has a curious dream of the mysterious sad woman who left him in a world unfamiliar with what he had known. Tom knew he had been adopted but the dream puzzles him and makes him wonder at the things that he recognizes for things. On the other side of the world in a total different time 1387 of Scotland to be exact Jenna Brandham also dreams of a mysterious man known only as Tavish MacCollum. Jenna is upset at her parents for forcing her hand to present herself to King Richard Bordeaux since she is unwed. Jenna balks at this and runs away to her aunt and uncle’s place to avoid this uneventful meeting. This supposed meeting could bring her family’s ruin. The answer comes in bringing back another woman to replace Jenna, Keira Campbell the modern equivalent of Jenna. In bringing Keira back to replace Jenna it also brings Tom back too. What happens when Jenna and Tom meet not just in dreams but in real life?
I really liked Tom and Tavish! Sure I thought what Ms. Cantrell did was brilliant in separating the two but also making them somewhat the same. I at first felt a little sorry for him because he was adopted of course he still didn’t use it as a crutch but I admired his adoptive parents for being so good to him.Tom was really a good guy at heart he was funny, humorous, but had a trace of seriousness and didn’t seem to do things halfway which made it hard for me to not fall for him. Jenna did annoy me at first though. I didn’t like how she ran away from everything her responsibilities, treating her parents harshly and just being somewhat spiteful never thinking until later what her actions could cause her family’s downfall. I mean eventually I liked her but it took me awhile about 45% into the book. I think what made the book was a previous character Derek Campbell from Celtic spirit. I’ve always liked him and just understood him better in this book more than his book. One thing I really didn’t understand the way Tom could manipulate time so easily and made me wonder how he could do so when his mother who had the ability but didn’t do it as much maybe the messing of time played into it. I guess in a sense the book ended a little prematurely for me or that I really wanted to book to be just a little longer since I loved the characters so much. Still despite the four star rating I still loved the story that I can’t wait to reread it and will definitely get more books from Ms. Cantrell!

I have read the complete series and loved each and every story. I love the medieval setting and the history of this time period. You learn many interesting facts about these times.
I love the romance and magic in each. The love and honor in each of the lead characters and especially the strong female characters.
Who doesn't love a great book with handsome knights, romance, love and a fabulous setting.
