The Homicide 101 mystery series features Professors Bradford and Diana Malloy, both of whom are faculty members at a New England University. In the first book within the series, Brad and Diana head off to Massachusetts to begin a year-long sabbatical. For both of them, it’s an opportunity for some down time, a chance to pursue their academic interests without involvement in some horrific crime. But it doesn’t turn out that way. Before long, they find themselves knee-deep in a serial murder investigation where a demented killer, with an eye for color and a mind fixed on revenge, is eliminating one-by-one former graduates from Hazelwood High School’s Class of ’85, a short time before the group is scheduled to convene for their 20th class reunion. Some intriguing psychological and biological issues outside the realm of everyday experience confound the investigation, making it seem for a while that the killer might never be identified.
